Arrest made after high-speed motorcycle race; recover stolen cop gun


For the four days ending yesterday, The Elk Grove Police report 15 criminal arrests on what appears to have been a busy weekend.

On Friday, an Elk Grove police motorcycle unit attempted to stop suspect Matthew Dennler for a vehicle code violation. Dannler did not stop and sideswiped the police motorcycle.

After a short pursuit, Dannler was stopped and was discovered to be in the possession of a stolen motorcycle.

Late Friday afternoon, two male juveniles suspects were arrested for stealing a cell phone from another juvenile. The two suspects also physically assaulted the juvenile male victim. Police were aided in the arrests by a witness who followed the two juvenile suspects to a residence and reported the incident.

On Sunday morning, police stopped a robbery in progress at A-1 Towing on Railroad Street. Police arrested suspect Scott Reaves for burglary and possession of naroctics.

Later on Sunday, while mediating a domestic argurment, police received information that a suspect was in possession of stolen police gun. Police arrested suspect Thomas Sheff for possession of gun reported stolen from the Los Angeles Police.

On Sunday night an unexploded homemade explosive devise was detonated at Lawrence Park. Sacramento County Sheriffs also discovered an unexploded devise at the same location and disarmed it. No arrest was made.

In addition, police made arrests for four d.u.i.'s, three outstanding warrants and two domestic violence.
