On Wednesday Congressman Dan Lungren voted against expanding government-sponsored health care coverage to 4 million more children. The legislation is intended to cover children of working families without health care whose income is too high to qualify for medi-care.

The legislation, which is a centerpiece of President-elect Obama's domestic agenda, was approved 289 to 139. The vote was mostly along party lines.

Lungren, who represents California's 3rd Congressional district which includes Elk Grove, has long supported a fiscally conservative agenda. Lungren believes the health care crisis can be solved by congress implementing "a comprehensive consumer-driven health care delivery system."
