This edition of EGMM will examine the 460 filing of Elk Grove city council member Steve Detrick.

Aas the newest council member, Detrick ran a well organized and financed campaign last fall to defeat the unpopular two-term incumbent Mike Leary. Aside from having a fine tuned political machine, Detrick also made a personal loan of over $100,000 to his campaign.

Because of this debt, Detrick raised the most cash of any city council member during the first six month period of 2009

Why post this? I would rather see the 460's for myself to see who donated and why. Totals mean nothing to me.

My dog could have beat Leary. Detrick just happened to be the pretty face that stepped up.

A good looking guy he is, but he was the only person to step up and make the run. Being the honest, dedicated, transparent person that he is would IMO be why he won.

As to seeing the 460's, it would tell you who contributed, but not WHY. I believe there is detail as to who donated and the amount.

Why did he accept money from Michelle Smira. Didn't she run leary's campaign? Wasn't she running a dirty campaign filled with conflict of interest on interview panels favoring Leary. This is one donation that should be returned to sender or maybe Steve is just another politician too.

HUMMMM maybe Lisa Lent supported this man as well...

No, she supported Leary. Remember the automated calls from the Lents to support Leary.
Interesting about the Smira donation. I wouldn't accept blood money either. It sends a bad message that all is fair in politics as long as you can bribe your way back to a favorable vote or opinion.
