Elk Grove Police arrested a man early yesterday morning after it was discovered he had stolen a car.
According to police reports, officers initiated a stop for a vehicle code violation on the 9400 block of Dunkerrin Way. Upon contact with the suspect, 42-year old Pheng Vang of Sacramento, officers noted he was nervous and evasive.
The officers then directly contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and discovered the vehicle had just been stolen. Yang was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
Phone tip leads to DUI arrest
Late last night police received a phone tip that a vehicle was being operated by an intoxicated driver.
Upon receiving the tip, officers were able to locate the vehicle fitting the description near Elk Grove Boulevard and fire Poppy Drive.
Following an enforcement stop, officers contacted suspect 38-year old Randy Owens of North Highlands and determined he displayed object signs of impairment. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
In other activity, police arrested 54-year old Chandra Prasad of Elk Grove for public intoxication and 46-year old Rene Mangabat of Elk Grove on DUI charges. Both suspects were transferred to the county jail.
