With a planned Holiday recess, the Elk Grove City Council’s sole meeting for December will likely turn into a marathon session. The council will hear up to 15 items during the regular session as well as a closed session meeting that will include real property negotiations.

One of the first items the council will hear is a continuation of last month’s appeal from the Old Town Elk Grove Foundation of the planning commission’s approval of a tattoo and piercing shop. The foundation is trying to prevent the shop from locating in the Old Town special planning area.

Charter Commission to give update and new mayor to be selected

The city council will also receive a report from Elk Grove City Charter Commission chair Jake Allen. The council will also consider a second contract worth $49,500 with public relations firm The Hoyt Company to provide public outreach for the charter commission.

The final item on the evenings agenda will see the city council consider its annual nomination of the mayor and vice mayor. The vice mayor, currently Sophia Scherman, has typically ascended to the mayor position.

The closed session starts at 5:00 PM and the regular meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
