Police arrested an Elk Grove man last night in what started out as a domestic violence incident and ended in a vehicle pursuit and collision.
According to police reports, 21-year old Daryl Jackson of Elk Grove was involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical attack. Jackson allegedly grabbed the victim’s hair and twice punched the victim in the forehead.
When the victim tried to flee the residence, Jackson reportedly blocked the exit door and threatened to harm the victim. The victim eventually exited the residence and called 911 from a neighbor’s residence.
As Elk Grove Police officers arrived, Jackson was observed driving away from the residence. Officers initiated an enforcement stop but Jackson did not stop and led officers on a short pursuit that ended with a vehicle collision.
After the collision, Jackson reportedly left his vehicle and fled on foot. A police K-9 unit was deployed and the suspect was apprehended a short distance away.
After being treated for injuries at an area hospital, Jackson was transferred to the county jail. Jackson is being held on five charges including infliction of corporal punishment, false imprisonment, threat to commit a crime resulting in death, violation of probation terms and attempting to evade a pursuing peace officer.
