Elk Grove Wal-Mart Super Center Decision Expected This Afternoon

There will be a hearing this afternoon in the Sacramento Superior Court where a decision is expected to be handed down on Friends of Madeira v. City of Elk Grove over the proposed Wal-Mart on Bruceville Road.

The city is supporting the retailing behemoth’s efforts to open a so-called super center. The suit was brought by residents in the Elk Grove neighborhood seeking to stop the development of the new store.

Attorneys for Wal-Mart contend the complaint was filed beyond the statue of limitation and should be thrown out. In published reports Elk Grove City Attorney concurs with Wal-Mart and said the residents waited beyond the 90-day limit.
