Elias Barociomendez, 29, of Elk Grove was arrested at (location withheld) about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for an alleged violation of California Penal Code section 243(e)(1), Elk Grove police reported.

That penal code section states, in part, that: "When a battery is committed against a spouse, a person with whom the defendant is cohabiting, a person who is the parent of the defendant's child, former spouse, fiance, or fiancee, or a person with whom the defendant currently has, or has previously had, a dating or engagement relationship, the battery is punishable by a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail for a period of not more than one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment."

According to the published police report, the victim "was hit several times during an argument by (the suspect)."

Barociomendez was arrested and transported to the main jail, the police report stated.

Elsewhere in police news, Kevin Houde, 49, was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 9200 block of Elk Grove Boulevard on suspicion of being under the influence of a narcotic, Elk Grove police reports indicated.

Police say that when Houde was stopped for allegedly violating an unspecified vehicle code section "officers observed obvious signs of impairment."

He was arrested and transported to the main jail.

Later that night, Rowland Yovonie, 21, was arrested about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bond and Elk Grove-Florin roads for allegedly operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, Elk Grove police reports stated.

Yovonie reportedly "admitted to driving a vehicle involved in a traffic collision" and police responding to the scene claimed that he "displayed objective signs of impairment" so he was arrested and transported to the main jail.
