On March 10, 2010, Elk Grove Police officers were on patrol in the area of Killdeer Way and Wymark Drive when they observed a “butterscotch” Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck being operated by an unidentified individual.

Officers immediately recognized that this vehicle may have been involved in several attempted burglaries over the last two weeks and initiated a vehicle stop. Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as 48-year-old Caesar Fontillas, in order to conduct an investigation.

During the course of their investigation, officers were able to contact a witness from a previous burglary and transported them to the scene of the vehicle stop. The witness positively identified Caesar Fontillas as the person responsible for the attempted burglary. In addition, the witness also identified the Chevrolet Colorado as the vehicle that was associated with Fontillas.

Officers arrested Caesar Fontillas on one charge of attempted burglary (664/459 Penal Code) and he was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where his bail was set at $130,000. Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, a booking photo of Fontillas will not be released.
