The Elk Grove Police Officers Association (EGPOA), and the Elk Grove Community Connection (EGCC) are joining forces for a fundraiser for Capt. Jim Cooper, a candidate for Sheriff of Sacramento County. Cooper has been on the Elk Grove City Council since incorporation in 2000, and served as the city’s first mayor.
“Jim has not only been a strong supporter of the EGPOA, but also the region’s entire law enforcement community, along with the city and the residents of Elk Grove,” says EGPOA President Dan Koontz. “With his strong leadership skills, along with his 20 plus years in law enforcement, Jim has clearly proven he should be the next Sheriff of Sacramento County.”
When reached to comment on the fundraiser Cooper stated, “I am honored to have the support of both the EGPOA and the EGCC. Having local law enforcement and local community groups coming together to support my candidacy is humbling.”
“Jim was there for us when we introduced the street racing ordinances. He made them happen; and with the subsequent education program, we know lives have been saved. We are proud to be partnering with the EGPOA to do our part to make sure that Jim is the next Sheriff of Sacramento County,” said Linda Ford, EGCC media representative.
