A Sacramento man was arrested Thursday night for assaulting an Elk Grove Police officer following a domestic dispute.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call for a domestic dispute on 8100 block of Elk Grove-Florin Road between a mother and her teenaged son. The suspect, 32-year old Alexander Garcia arrived and became visibly upset the officers were speaking with his son.

Garcia then reportedly attempted to take his son away from officers who were in the process of conducting their investigation. The suspect allegedly began screaming and continued to interfere with the officers.

The suspect then allegedly pushed an officer in an attempt to remove his son from the officers. Additional officers arrived and Garcia was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

The suspect was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
