Car Thieves Crash, Elude Elk Grove Police

Two car thieves eluded Elk Grove Police late Thursday night following a car burglary that led to a vehicle pursuit and ensuing crash.

According to police reports, a witness observed two black male suspects driving a car that did not belong to them on the 8500 block of Dewberry Way. Responding officers observed the described vehicle leaving the area.

Officers attempted an enforcement stop when the driver of the stolen vehicle did not stop and led officers on short vehicle pursuit. The vehicle occupants fled the vehicle after they struck two trees and a retaining wall.

Officers established a perimeter then conducted an extensive search of the area utilizing other agencies and air support. After a lengthy search, officers were unable to locate the suspects.
