UPDATED 8:00 PM

The Elk Grove City Council announced late this afternoon that a special meeting will be held tomorrow night for the sole purpose of considering formation of an ad-hoc committee to review and provide direction regarding group homes and facilities.

Tomorrow's meeting comes as result of testimony at last week's council meeting regarding allegations of offensive behavior of residents at a juvenile sex offender home on Cheer Court in Elk Grove.

Subsequent to last week's meeting, an ordinance was drafted by the Elk Grove Community (EGCC) in collaboration with Elk Grove City Council Member Gary Davis and Vice Mayor Steve Detrick. The ordinance is modeled after existing ones in San Diego and National City that will allow the city council to enact stricter statutes regarding sex offenders.

The meeting will be held at city hall and will start at 5:00 pm.

Are you kidding me...tomorrow night at 5 p.m., 24 hrs. notice and still developing! The people most involved in this are on their way home from work and can not possibly make this meeting. Or is that the idea? Form an ad-hoc committee without proper notice and the communities feedback? An ordinance has already been drawn up and is scheduled for the July 28th EGCC meeting. JMO, but this is starting to smell!!!!!
