In the race for Elk Grove's District 4 City Council seat, incumbent Gary Davis earlier today issued a signed pledge that his campaign is calling the "Elk Grove Clean Campaign Pledge."
In a statement to Elk Grove News, the Elk Grove Citizen and the Sacramento Bee, Davis said he signed the pledge to run a clean, issue-focused campaign and is offering his challengers the same opportunity.

"When we hear candidates bring ideas to help struggling businesses stay open, or attracting new jobs to our community, or helping families keep their homes, we all win," Davis said in his statement. "I ask that all candidates join me in pledging to run a clean campaign and talk about issues, not politics. Only then can we offer Elk Grove a real choice to improve our everyday lives."
According to Davis' campaign manager Gabriel Medina the pledge is only directed at District 4 candidates. Davis is facing challengers Jimmie Johnson and James White.
