Two former business partners were involved in an exchange Friday morning that resulted in the discharge of a handgun.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, 28-year old Michael Maldonado of Elk Grove knocked on the front door of his former business partner, 44-year old Malcom Jamire of Elk Grove at his residence on the 9800 block of Elston Circle. When Jamire opened the door, Maldonado brandished a handgun.

Jamire then retreated inside and Maldonado fired one round into the ground in front of the residence. Responding officers detained Maldonado and recovered the weapon.

Maldonado was arrested and transferred to the county jail. The victim was not hurt during the incident.
