On October 4, 2010, the Elk Grove – South County Democratic Club endorsed its first ever slate of candidates for the November, 2010 election.  Those candidates are:

Dr. Ami Bera – Congressional District 3
Ken Cooley – CA Senate District 1
Joan Buchanan – CA Assembly District 15
Alyson Huber – CA Assembly District 10
Chris Parker – Board of Equalization District 2
Kathleen Kelleher – County Assessor (non partisan)
Jim Cooper – Sacramento County Sheriff (non partisan)
Genevieve Shiroma – SMUD Ward 4(non partisan)
Gary Davis – Elk Grove City Council District 4 (non partisan)
Davies Ononiwu – Elk Grove City Council District 2 (non partisan)
Rod Brewer – Cosumnes Community Services District
Doug McElroy – Cosumnes Community Services District

“The mission of the club is to promote quality education, lives  lived in dignity, civil liberties, access to health care, and a clean and safe environment," President Sandi Russell said. " We believe elected officials are responsible for ensuring these basic rights, and we will support those who work for these rights.”

In addition to granting the endorsement, the club donated hundreds of dollars to the campaigns of those running in Sacramento County.   

“We’re the newest Democratic Club in Sacramento County, but thanks to the hard work of our members, we’re proud to be able to support our local endorsed candidates,” club Vice President Robert Longer said.

The Elk Grove – South County Democratic Club was formed in March of 2010 to establish a
Democratic presence in Elk Grove and adjacent communities.   

"We have determined that these fine candidates are the kind of leaders we need representing the Elk Grove area," Russell added.
