Ami Bera casts his vote this morning in Elk Grove
In a year where Republicans are expected to make huge gains on Democrats, the strong campaign of Democrat Dr. Ami Bera, M.D. of Elk Grove against Republican incumbent Dan Lungren for California's Third Congressional District has drawn national attention.

In a campaign that that has utilized hundreds of spirited volunteers, campaign manager Lucinda Guinn said this morning the efforts are still going strong. Guinn said that dozens of volunteers showed up at 5:30 this morning to spread door hangers and make last minute calls.

"Its all about the ground game now," Guinn said. "We have the operation to do that."

Bera, who cast his vote this morning at Foulkes Ranch School in Elk Grove said the campaign experience has been both amazing and humbling given the number of volunteers who gave so much of their time. Bera noted there were 500 volunteers who showed up yesterday alone to help get-out-the-vote-out efforts.

"I'm feeling good, we've ran a great race," Bera said. "It is testimony to our country."
