Elk Grove Police officers thwarted an in-progress home burglary yesterday morning that resulted in the arrest of four suspects, three of whom were juveniles.
According to police department reports, officers responded to an in-progress burglary call on the 9300 block of Mapleview Way at approximately 10 a.m. Monday morning. The resident who was inside the home when two 17-year old suspects rang the doorbell and decided against opening the door as they were not known.
The two suspects then ran to the side of the house and attempted to enter the backyard through a secured gate. The resident told dispatchers the two suspects had left the house and met up with two other individuals.
Responding officers arrived and detained all four suspects. Officers determined that 25-year old Zackary Gilmore of Elk Grove and another 17-year old male were acting as lookouts for the two suspect who rang attempted to gain entry.
In addition to finding burglary tools, Gilmore was found to be on active probation. The three juveniles were transferred to juvenile hall and Gilmore to the county jail.
