DUI suspect arrested on murder charges

Joshua Barksdale's previous record cited for enhanced charges

 

On February 1, 2011 at 10:35 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a call of a single vehicle collision in the 9300 block of Calvine Road.  

 

Suspect faces murder charges

Responding officers discovered that a red Ford pick-up truck, driven by 22-year-old Joshua Barksdale  of Elk Grove had collided with a retaining wall surrounding a residence and overturned.  After overturning, the truck came to rest on its roof near the center median.  

The male passenger, later identified as 23-year-old Jarrod Harrington, died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the collision.

 

When contacted by officers at the scene, Barksdale displayed objective signs of impairment.  Barksdale was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.  Barksdale injuries prevented him from being taken into custody at that time.

 

On February 3, 2011, Barksdale was medically cleared for incarceration.  Due to his previous driving record, Barksdale was arrested on suspicion of Murder and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs then transported to the Sacramento County Jail.
