EGPD investigates late night fatal vehicle collision

On February 1, 2011 at 10:35 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a call of a single vehicle collision in the 9300 block of Calvine Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a red Ford pick-up truck travelling eastbound on Calvine Rd. had collided with a retaining wall surrounding a residence and overturned. After overturning, the truck came to rest on its roof near the center median trapping both occupants.

Medical personnel determined that an unidentified male passenger, who was under the vehicle, was deceased. The unidentified male driver was extricated from inside the vehicle and transported to a local area hospital for treatment of moderate non-life threatening injuries.

Identification of the passenger will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. At this time, the collision is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
