A total of $35,000 in rewards is being offered for information regarding the shooting of two men that left one dead in Elk Grove last Friday.
The two men, both of whom are Orthodox Sikh's, were shot as they were on a walk near their homes on the the city's north side. Both men were wearing traditional turbans and the possibility the shooting was hate-motivated is being jointly investigated by Elk Grove Police and the FBI.
On Sunday a $5,000 rewarded was offered by the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Sikh's are often mistaken as being Muslims and the council offered the reward to express solidarity.
Yesterday another $30,000 was offered from Northern California's Sikh community. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357 or the Elk Grove Police Department at (916)714-5115.
