On June 2, 2011 at 10:45 a.m., two suspects entered the Bank of the West (8106 Sheldon Rd.) and ordered everyone inside the bank to get down on the floor. Both suspects were armed with handguns while making these demands.

One of the suspects jumped over the teller counter area and proceeded to the vault area where he removed an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. The second suspect stood on a counter and removed U.S. currency from inside a teller’s drawer.

Both suspects then quickly exited the bank and were last seen running away on foot.

Officers received information that the suspects had driven away in a white four door vehicle. Responding officers located the described vehicle unoccupied in a nearby residential community, a few blocks away from the bank.

Officers discovered that the “getaway” vehicle had been reported stolen on June 1, 2011. Officers were unable to locate the two suspects after completing a systematic search of the area.

The first suspect was described as African-American male adult, twenty (20) years of age, five feet eight inches tall (5’8”) with a thin build. He was wearing a ski mask, a dark jacket, blue jeans that were cuffed at the bottom, athletic shoes, and gloves.

The second suspect was described as African-American male adult, twenty (20) years of age, five feet ten inches tall (5’10”) with a thin build. He was wearing a ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, athletic shoes, and gloves. According to witnesses, both suspects were armed with handguns.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00. Tips can also be sent via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 (agency identification number) and the message.
