One suspect alleged to attack firefighter

Elk Grove Police had a busy weekend making several arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) and public intoxication. A total of five DUI and six public intoxication arrests were made for the three day period ending yesterday.

In one case, 18-year old Miguel Perez for Elk Grove was found to be lying in a creek near the 3200 block of Dwight Road early Saturday morning. When Perez was placed in back of a responding ambulance, the suspect began screaming, kicking and throwing punches with both hands.

During the course of incident, Perez reportedly struck a firefighter in the face which resulted in a visible injury. Responding Elk Grove Police officers arrested the suspect and transferred him to the county jail.

In addition police also made one other arrest for an active warrant.
