An Elk Grove man was arrested last night after he attempted to buy alcohol at a local store and appeared to be intoxicated.

According to Elk Grove Police, 29-year old Luke Berry was attempting to buy alcohol and a store employee refused the purchase because of his visible level of intoxication. After leaving the store, the suspect was located by responding officers at a nearby gas station.

Officers observed Berry sitting in the driver’s seat with the headlights on. Upon contact, Berry displayed objective signs of impairment.

Officers also discovered that there were two juveniles in the vehicle. Berry was arrested then transported to the main jail and the two juveniles were released to relatives.
