This morning members of the business community, volunteers, Lion’s Club of Elk Grove andseveral members of the community gathered to present to Elk Grove Food Bank Services donations from the Support Local Charities Campaign sponsored by Elk Grove City Council member Gary Davis. Davis spearheaded the donation drive along with Teresa Rodriguez, Intern to Davis, and Connie Conley and Linda Ford of the Elk Grove Community Connection.

"There are a great number of Elk Grove families in need this year," Davis said. "I am proud of these local businesses and residents who stepped up, once again, to meet the need of our residents through the Elk Grove Food Bank.”

A very nice crowd assembled at in the spirit of giving and also enjoyed a continental breakfast courtesy of Panera Bread in Elk Grove. More than 26 businesses participated in collecting food items and toys for those who need it the most this holiday season.

The Elk Grove Lion’s Club, in grand fashion, asked their members to donate a bag of groceries, including Rodriquez who donated $500 worth of toys, instead of collecting funds for their holiday party.

Though a chilly morning, you couldn’t tell by the warmth of the giving.
