The Sacramento Public Library has many fun, exciting and free Summer Reading programs at its Elk Grove branch at 8900 Elk Grove Blvd. Upcoming special programs include:

Wednesday, July 11 at 3:30 p.m.: Bats: Myths and Facts with NorCal Bats (family program). Join us as we welcome NorCal Bats for a lively and educational program featuring California native bats! During this program participants will be able to view different species of live bats, and learn about the myths that surround them.

Wednesday, July 18 at 3:30 p.m.: Sleep on It with ArtWorks (family program). Create a one-of-a-kind pillowcase that does double duty as a pillow cover and a book bag at this fun ArtWorks program.

Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m.: The Repurposed Library with ArtWorks (adult program). Join ArtWorks as they share a collection of DIY projects that utilize every imaginable part of a book, from hardcover back to individual pages, to create new art objects and practical items for the home.

Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m.: Thai String Dolls (teen program). Originating from Thailand, Thai string dolls are handcrafted toys made from one continuous cotton string. Come and see how easy it is to make your own version of a Thai string doll.

Thursdays, 10 a.m.: Music Circle Time with Michael Hemsworth (children’s program). Enjoy a wonderful program filled with music and songs with Michael Hemsworth of Newsongs School of Music.
