An early morning father-daughter outing turned sour Saturday morning for an Elk Grove man.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers responded to the area of Mykonos Way and Freitag Way after receiving reports of a young child driving a car. Responding officers found 55-yer-old Kenneth Grau of Elk Grove driving with his 10-year old daughter on his lap.

Upon contact the suspect displayed objective signs of impairment and determined was to be impaired. While determining his sobriety, the suspect became combative and reportedly did not comply with officers instructions.

When officers attempted to handcuff Grau, he became angry and resisted. Officers used physical force and took him to the ground in order to gain control and compliance.

Grau was arrested then transported to the main jail. The 10-year old daughter was released to an adult at the suspects request.

Maybe he listened to Springsteen's "My Hometown" one to many times.

I was eight years old and running with a dime in my hand

Into the bus stop to pick up a paper for my old man

Id sit on his lap in that big old buick and steer as we drove through town
