EGUSD trustee and candidate Jake Rambo.
Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee and candidate Jake Rambo held a campaign kick-off event yesterday afternoon.

With over two dozen supporters on hand, Rambo thanked the group for joining him at Karamanos Park in Elk Grove. Among the supporters on hand were Elk Grove Council Member and mayoral candidate Sophia Scherman, former Elk Grove Council Member Rick Soares and EGUSD board member Bobbie Singh-Allen.

During his comments Rambo touched on a several issues facing the school district including labor relations and school funding.

Referencing the well documented labor problems between EGUSD and the teachers association, Rambo said he has already worked towards mending relations. "I am committed to a win-win," he noted.

Rambo discussed the biggest financing issue facing school districts statewide, Gov. Jerry Brown's Proposition 30. This proposition will temporarily raise sales taxes and taxes on incomes above $250,000 and be used to fund previously budgeted school cuts.

If the proposition fails, school districts statewide would face billions in automatic cuts that Rambo characterized as an existential threat. "This is a time of great challenge," he added.

Rambo also addressed Another supporter in attendance was Norm DeYoung who spoke to the group citing Rambo's long time community and school involvement and urged others to get the wrod out on Rambo's behalf. "He needs to have everybody's support," DeYoung said.

Before all the supporters enjoyed root beer floats, Rambo said he is encouraged and hopes to continuing serving as a trustee. "I look forward to winning in November and serving four more years for our children," h said.
