In an ironic end to a short vehicle pursuit, a suspected drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a funeral home sign.
According to Elk Grove Police, a patrol officer observed a vehicle speeding early Monday morning near Elk Grove Blvd. and Elk Grove-Florin Road. When the officer attempted to stop the driver, the suspect did not yield and led the officer on a short pursuit.
The driver headed east on Elk Grove Blvd. until he drove across a median and collided with several objects including the sign for the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel. After receiving medial attention at an area hospital, police arrested suspect 28-year old Alex Hernandez of Sacramento who was taken to the county jail.
