An armed gunman attempted to rob a convenience store on Elk Grove's west side late last night.
According to Elk Grove Police, an unknown suspect wearing a black ski mask and black hooded sweatshirt entered the Circle K store located on the 2300 block of Laguna Blvd and threw a grocery bag at the clerk working behind the register. The suspect told the clerk to fill the bag with money then lifted his sweatshirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband.
Fearing for their safety, the clerk backed away from the register. The suspect then ran away from the location leaving the bag behind.
Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect and the clerk was not injured. The suspect was described as being 5`6” to 5`9”, 160 – 175 lbs, with hazel eyes that looked green.
No surveillance images have been released.
