EG Mayor Davis Presented With Tapestry by EGUSD Trustee-Elect

Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis and Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee-elect Steve Ly.

As part of the the Elk Grove City Council swearing-in ceremony, Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee-elect Steve Ly presented Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis with an elaborate Hmong tapestry.

Ly, who is of Hmong ancestry, presented Davis with the framed tapestry and thanked the new mayor for his campaign's outreach efforts to the Hmong community. Ly won a four year term on the EGUSD by defeating incumbent Jake Rambo.

Ly noted that tapestries are symbolic for Hmongs as they helped preserve their culture and language. "I am so pleased you are going to be the first mayor," Ly said.

"I got a voice with you on the school board," Davis said after accepting the honor.
