An astute witness tip led to the arrest of two Stockton men early Sunday morning in Elk Grove.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, officers responded to a call from a witness who observed a suspect exit from underneath a car parked on the 2500 block of Marsh Wren Way. Responding officers located the car described by the witness and conducted an enforcement stop.

The vehicle was being driving by 36-year old David Anrade and 36-year old Lom Nguyen was a passenger. A probation search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cutting tools commonly used to steal catalytic converters and an earlier search of the car where the suspect was observed, officers noted cutting marks near the catalytic converter.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to the county jail where they remain in custody.
