An Elk Grove woman was arrested on narcotics distribution charges late last night after allegedly being discovered with marijuana.

According to Elk Grove Police, 23-year old Jennifer Wong was operating a motor vehicle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle near Franklin Blvd. and Laguna Parks Drive. As a result of the collision, Wong's vehicle became disabled and remained in the intersection.

An officer accompanied Wong to her vehicle so she could recover some of her belongings. Once at the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

When the trunk was opened, the officer observed a plastic bag with what appeared to be marijuana sticking out of it. Wong reportedly attempted to hide the contents of the bag and take it with her, but was stopped by the officer.

A search of the bag led to the discovery of an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Wong was arrested then taken to the county jail where she remains in custody on $500,000 bail for transportation, distribution and importation charges. She will be arraigned Friday afternoon.
