Although it has not been formally approved by the city council, the City of Elk Grove is proceeding with the environmental impact report for a proposed multi-million dollar aquatics center.

As part of the city's long-planned civic center, the aquatics center as it is currently proposed would include an Olympic sized competitive swimming pool, a diving platform and a commercial water park that would be operated by a contractor.

As part of the project, the city will be hold a scoping meeting tomorrow night regarding the forth-coming environmental impact report. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit and receive guidance from public agencies and interested parties to the scope and content of the environmental information to be included in the report.

Tomorrow's meeting will be held in the city council chambers and starts at 6:00 p.m. A second meeting will be held be on Thursday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. Comments may also be mailed to the Planning Department until October 7, 2013.
