Ending months of speculation, former Representative Doug Ose will announce his intentions to run for California’s 7th Congressional District later today according to press release issued this morning.

Ose will enter the race for the seat presently held by Democratic incumbent and freshman Representative Dr. Ami Bera.

The race for California's 7th Congressional District is once again expected to generate interest from both Democratic and Republican national congressional committees. Bera narrowly defeated incumbent Republican Dan Lungren in the last election and has been targeted by the Republican National Congressional Committee.

Ose will face fellow Republicans Elizabeth Emkin, Igor Birman and Bera in next June's primary. The top-two vote-getters will advance to the November run-off regardless of party affiliation.

Ose served three terms in Congress representing the district from 1999 to 2005 and retired after fulfilling his commitment to serve for only three terms. Ose will make his announcement this afternoon on The John McGinness Show, heard on KFBK AM 1530 from 3 - 4 p.m.
