With less than a year to go until general elections and no declared opponents, Elk Grove City Council candidate Nancy Chaires is leaving nothing to chance in her pursuit of the District Four seat. To that end, Chaires recently announced three more endorsements of her candidacy on top of the previous 30 she has received.

The newest endorsements are from three locally recognized women community leaders - Los Rios Community College District Trustee and longtime Elk Grove resident Kay Albiani,  Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Bobbie Singh-Allen and local restauranteur Marie Mertz.

“As women from immigrant families, Nancy and I embrace the opportunities for success that this country offers," Singh-Allen said. "Nancy and I also share a desire to give back to our communities and to create more inclusive government."

Chaires, who currently serves on the Elk Grove Planning Commission as an appointee of Council Member Jim Cooper, hopes to be elected to a full-four year term next November. The seat is currently occupied by Bob Trigg who promised not to run when he was appointed last January to fill the remaining two years of the current term when it was vacated by Gary Davis upon his election as Mayor.
