An early morning fire caused over $150,000 of damage to an Elk Grove house this morning.

According to the Cosumnes Fire Department, the residential structure fire occurred on the 9600 block of Gamay Way. When crews arrived, they found a well involved fire in an attached garage that extended into the attic of the home.

One of the residents of the house awoke to the smell of smoke and saw flames coming from the garage. She woke the other four occupants and all were able to able to evacuate unassisted. The family pet was also found by fire personnel unharmed.

The five displaced residents are being assisted by Red Cross. Fire investigators are on scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The response to this fire included five fire engines, two ladder trucks, two chief officers and two medic units for a total of 29 personnel. Cosumnes Fire was assisted by Sac Metro Fire.
