A Sacramento man who allegedly fled an accident, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on Christmas Eve afternoon.

According to Elk Grove Police, 34-year old Gabriel Pillias was involved in a vehicle collision near Bond Road and Elk Crest Drive. Instead of stopping, Pillias reportedly fled the scene.

A witness followed the suspect's vehicle to a nearby location and EGPD was contacted. Officers arrived and detained Pillias who was positively identified by witnesses as being involved in the collision. Pillias also displayed objective signs of impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

Pillias was arrested and taken to the county jail. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
