A community forum on the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will be held in Elk Grove tomorrow night.

The TPP is a proposed trade agreement  between the U.S., Canada, Mexico and nine other Pacific Rim countries. The one country not included in the on-going negotiations is China.

Groups and individuals of varied interests have criticized the proposed agreement on a number of fronts including labor, environmental and food safety issues.  MIT Professor Noam Chomsky said of the agreement that "much of what’s leaked about the TPP indicates that it’s not about trade at all, it’s about investor rights.”

Tomorrow's forum will be held at the Elk Grove Public Library and starts at 7 p.m. and is being sponsored by several groups including the Communication Workers of America District 9 and The Sierra Club, Mother Lode Chapter. A representative from Congressman Ami Bera's district office will also be in attendance.
