According to a document posted on the Elk Grove City Clerk's webpage, a fourth person has filed candidate intention papers for the Elk Grove City Council District 4 race.

The document, which was submitted on Wednesday and posted today, were filed by Daniel J. Jimenez. Based on an inquiry to the phone listed on the form, Jimenez is believed to be associated with Elk Grove's Above and Beyond Cakes.

Jimenez joins Elk Grove Planning Commissioner Nancy Chaires and Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Steve Ly, both of whom are actively campaigning for the seat currently occupied by Bob Trigg. The fourth person to draw papers, Charles S. Shanks, has not started his campaign.

EGN will interview Jimenez on Monday.

Uh oh, we have the gender and race card subtly being played here and none of them have a clear advantage on this. If the scorecard is the number of endorsements you have, then Chaires is leading this horse race and the others better get cracking if they hope to raise enough money to pay for the big signs and glossy brochures. By the same token, this could cost the developers more money, because now they need to cover all their bets!

Mr. Jimenez has my vote as long as he doesn't drop the N-word and has no felony record.

We need new blood in EG politics and the others are well connected Dems that will offer more of the same leadership (or lack thereof) that we currently see.

Thanks for stepping up Mr. Jimenez. Good luck to you! You have your first vote.

Ask him about the massive housing jobs imbalance.

Ask him if he supports more cookie cutter residential development in "Meridian" SEPA.
