An Elk Grove man was arrested Sunday night with the help of  Sacramento Police Department's Air One helicopter.

According to Elk Grove Police, 25-year old Murphy Batiste was reportedly sitting in a vehicle on the 9300 block of Fassett Way with a firearm on the dashboard. When officers arrived following a call, they found Batiste sitting in the passenger seat of the car.

Officers ordered the suspect out of the vehicle at gunpoint and instructed him to kneel. Batiste slowly complied with the instructions, but when officers attempted to handcuff him, he pulled away and fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.

To help locate Batiste, Sacramento Police Department's Air One helicopter was called in for assistance. Batiste was located in a backyard and a taser was deployed to subdue him after an extensive struggle.

A search of the vehicle the suspect had been sitting in led to the discovery of an air soft pistol and a ski mask. Batiste was arrested then transported to the main jail after being cleared for incarceration by medical staff. He was subsequently released on bail.
