Elk Grove Vice Mayor Elk Grove Jim Cooper received the endorsement of his opponent in 2010 Sacramento County Sheriff's race.

Today, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones announced his endorsement of Cooper in his bid for the  California Assembly Ninth District seat. Cooper, who unsuccessfully ran against Jones for the position in 2010, is facing fellow Democrat and law enforcement professional, Sacramento City Council Member Darrell Fong.

"Captain Cooper has served Sacramento County with honor and distinction for 30 years. As a captain he has cracked down on child sexual predators and earned a Bronze Star for Bravery for going above and beyond the call of duty," Jones said. "I am honored to support Captain Jim Cooper for State Assembly."

Sheriff Scott Jones joins San Joaquin County Sheriff Steve Moore and former Sacramento County Sheriffs Robbie Waters, Glen Craig, and Lou Blanas in endorsing Cooper’s campaign for Assembly.
