Time: 1500 hours
Report #: 14-008158
Charges: PC 459, 182(A)(1), 2800.2(A)
Location: 9100 block of W. Stockton Blvd.
Officers responded to the above location regarding three suspects who were observed shoplifting by Home
Depot loss prevention. The suspects placed two water heaters with brackets onto a dolly then exited the store
without paying for the merchandise. When the Loss Prevention officer attempted to detain the suspects, S-2
(Mendota resident) fled on foot, while S-1 (Fowler resident) and S-3 (not located) fled in black/maroon pick-up
truck with an attached trailer. Officers located S-2 across the street from Home Depot and he was detained
without incident. Officers found the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. S-1, who was
driving the vehicle, did not yield and a pursuit ensued on Elk Grove Blvd. from HWY 99. The pursuit was
terminated due to heavy traffic in the area. Officers later located the trailer at Cosumnes Oaks High School
and found that it continued additional stolen property. The water heaters were recovered by Home Depot loss
prevention outside the exit to the store. Officers later located the pick-up truck and pursued the vehicle
southbound on HWY 99 towards Galt then lost the vehicle on Eschinger Rd. Officers spotted the vehicle again
and resumed the pursuit on HWY 99 from Twin Cities Rd. As the pursuit traveled southbound on HWY 99,
EGPD cancelled their involvement in the pursuit to due traffic conditions. The vehicle was followed by AIR 1
(SPD Helicopter) who notified allied agencies. S-1 stopped the vehicle he was driving in Galt and let out S-3,
who was not located. S-1 was eventually taken into custody in Stockton. S-1 and S-2 were arrested then
transported to the main jail.
