Friday Afternoon Traffic Delays Near Elk Grove High School

The Elk Grove Police Department is advising motorist to expect closures and delays tomorrow afternoon in the areas near Elk Grove  High School as result of the Thundering Herds 51st annual homecoming parade. 

To accommodate the event, road closures and alternative routes around the event have been set up from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on several roads.  

Street Closures for Friday, October 16:

·      Valley Oak Drive at Elk Grove High School to Vista Grande Way

·      Elk Grove-Florin Rd in both directions at Elk Grove High School to Elk Grove Blvd.

·      Elk Grove Boulevard in both directions from Elk Grove Florin Road to Williamson Drive

·      Melrose Avenue

·      Southside Drive

Elk Grove Police will be on hand to assist with traffic controls and detours during the event.

Held since 1964, the EGHS homecoming parade is a time honored tradition that recognizes its students and showcases their school spirit to the community.  An estimated 1,000 students and 500 spectators are expected to participate.  For more information, call (916) 686-7741.
