Elk Grove Man Arrested on Suspicion of Burglarizing, Stealing Vehicle

A probationer who was suspected of stealing a car and possessing burglary tools was recently arrested in Elk Grove.

According to Elk Grove Police, on Wednesday morning officers were dispatched to a shopping center parking lot on the 9100 block of West Stockton Boulevard regarding suspicion activity. Responding officers contacted a man fitting the description, 40-year old Steven Banks of Elk Grove. 

A records check revealed Stevens was on probation and found to be in possession of several shaved car keys used for burglary. Officers also located a reported stolen vehicle nearby with the engine running with a shaved car key in the ignition containing personal property belonging to Stevens. 

Additionally, police found that Stevens had two active warrants out for his arrest. Stevens was arrested and is being held at the county jail on six misdemeanor and one felony charge with a bail of $65,000 with arraignment scheduled for this afternoon.
