Gunshots Fired During Friday Night Elk Grove Weed Deal, Robbery

Elk Grove drive by shooting

January 19, 2016 |

With the help of a law enforcement helicopter, Elk Grove Police apprehended two suspects in an alleged Friday night robbery that involved a car chase and gunfire.

The incident began early Friday evening when 21-year old Trevon Nash (pictured above) of Elk Grove and a 17-year old Elk Grove male juvenile met their victim near the 2300 block of Sandy Beach Way to sell marijuana. When the victim arrived at the location, Nash waived the victim over to his parked vehicle, the victim entered the car, and they began the transaction.

While the victim was seated, the juvenile approached the vehicle, opened the passenger door, pointed a handgun at the victim, threatened to shoot him and demanded his property. After taking the victim's I-Phone, the juvenile demanded his wallet.

When the victim exited the vehicle, he threw his wallet into the bushes. As the victim walked away, the suspects drove away.

The victim pursued the suspects in his vehicle and during the chase, Nash allegedly began shooting at the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was struck by the gunfire; however, the victim was not hit.

The suspects parked their vehicle and fled on foot. Responding officers established a perimeter and began searching for the suspects.

Nash was located and detained after he was seen walking in the area by a law enforcement helicopter and the juvenile was taken into custody with the assistance of a police K9. The victim’s cell phone was located in some nearby bushes.

The 17-year old was taken into custody and booked into juvenile hall while Nash was booked into the county jail where he is being held on four felony charges including robbery, conspiracy, discharging a firearm at a vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon. Nash is held on a $150,000 bail and will be arraigned tomorrow afternoon.
