An Elk Grove man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his mother and for colliding with a parked vehicle while driving under the influence.

Early Saturday morning 26-year old Robert Campbell was involved in an argument with his mother that escalated into a physical confrontation. During that confrontation, Campbell allegedly threw his mother to the ground and left the residence.

As he was driving away, Campbell reportedly hit a parked vehicle on the 5700 block of Birch Point Court. Responding officers contacted Campbell who displayed objective signs of impairment.

Campbell failed a field sobriety test, was arrested for assault, violation of probation, driving under the influence of drugs, hit and run, and possession of a controlled substance. Campbell was booked into the county jail and has been released on bail.
