Elk Grove Police Officers, K-9 Apprehend Burglary Suspect After Foot Pursuit

July 12, 2016 |

A man suspected of breaking into one Elk Grove business and attempting entry into a residence was apprehended late Saturday night.

Just before midnight Elk Grove Police officers responded to an alarm call at the Laguna Self Storage on the 3000 block of Dwight Drive on the city's westside. When officers arrived, they discovered that the front door to the business had been shattered and observed 45-year old Carlos Nick Garcia (pictured above) of Rocklin, Calif. allegedly exiting.

When officers attempted to detain Garcia, he reportedly fled from the location on foot with officers pursuing him into a nearby residential neighborhood. Garcia was located in the backyard of a residence attempting to gain access to another home through the rear door of the residence.

To apprehend Garcia, officers deployed an EGPD K-9. Garcia was arrested, treated for injuries sustained at the scene by paramedics, then booked into the county jail.

Garcia is being held on two felony and one misdemeanor charges and because of a previous charge, is not eligible for release. His arraignment is scheduled for this afternoon.
