Elk Grove Police arrested four suspects on Thursday after they allegedly stole over $1,600 in merchandise at the Elk Grove Toys R' Us.

Shortly after 3 p.m. a loss prevention employee observed three people enter the store while a fourth person remained in a parked car. The three suspects selected $1,600 in merchandise and attempted to conceal it in a stroller they entered the store with.

The suspects exited the store without paying for the concealed merchandise and they were seen entering the car occupied by 26-year-old Dewon Curry. S-2. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old juvenile female entered the car and drove away, while the other two, 21-year-old Shirleen Sandhya Prasad (photo above)  and 21-year-old Jessica Crystal Wardlaw (photo below) walked away.

Responding officers located the car being driven by Curry a short distance away from the scene and conducted a vehicle stop. Along with the two suspects, an infant child was inside the vehicle. Officers also located a majority of the stolen property inside the vehicle.

Prasad and Warlaw were located nearby, walking towards the location of the vehicle stop. Loss prevention positively identified the three females as the suspected shoplifters.

The three adults were arrested and transported to the main jail. The 17-year-old was taken into custody then transported to juvenile hall. The infant child was released to a family member.

Curry has been released from custody while Prasad and Wardlaw both remain in custody on a $45,000 bail facing violation of probation, theft, conspiracy, and child endangerment charges. Their arraignment is scheduled for Monday, August 1, at 1:30 p.m.
