Two suspects were arrested by Elk Grove Police in connection to last night's fatal accident in Elk Grove.
On December 4, 2016, at approximately 5:56 p.m., Elk Grove Police officers were dispatched to the 9300 block of West Stockton Boulevard regarding a single-vehicle collision. Callers to the
dispatch center reported that a vehicle traveling northbound on West Stockton Boulevard had
driven through a chain-link fence and overturned.
Responding officers located a dark-colored SUV resting against the chain-link fence
on the shoulder of Highway 99 (southbound). Officers located an unidentified male, a short
distance away from the damaged vehicle, who was deceased and showed obvious signs of
trauma.
Officers also contacted an individual at the scene
who indicated that he had been driving the overturned vehicle. Officers determined that the
deceased man, 21-year old Juan Pablo Guzman of Elk Grove had been a passenger in the SUV and had been ejected when the SUV
overturned as it left the roadway.
While officers were conducting their investigation into this collision, they developed
information that the initial statement about who had been driving the vehicle was false.
Based on these additional facts, officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, and a
passenger, had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Through investigative
efforts, officers were able to identify and locate the driver and passenger who had fled the
scene of the fatal collision. The driver, 23-year-old Ernesto Bizran-Guzman, and a
passenger, 19-year-old Jose Guzman, were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail
early this morning on charges of Vehicle Code 20001(C) with an arraignment set for Wednesday, December 6.
Anyone with additional
information regarding this fatal collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department’s
Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
